Helldivers 2 was set to receive the highly anticipated Redacted Regiment Warbond-themed expansion on January 20, which was expected to change the usual style of combat missions by adding more stealth elements.
Warbond focuses on shifting from open combat encounters to a more covert and tactical style of play. However, on the eve of the launch, Arrowhead Game Studios announced that they had discovered a critical issue during final testing that did not meet their quality standards. As a result, the release has been postponed without a new date being given.
"During the final testing of Warbond, we discovered a key issue that did not meet our standards for release... We will take a little more time to fix it... I appreciate your patience," the studio said in a statement. [Reddit]
The following items will also be added with the update:
- Low-noise suppressed weapons, such as the R-72 Censor (a precision rifle) and AR-59 Suppressor (an automatic assault rifle with an integrated silencer)
- P-35 Re-Educator pistol that fires darts with a delirium effect
- TM-01 Lure Mine, a trap mine designed to distract enemies
- B/MD C4 Pack, a set of explosive charges for strategic demolition
- New steel armor sets with passive visibility reduction and stealth cosmetics
The exact release date is still unknown.
