Variation no. 1:
At the time of its release, No Man’s Sky didn't have cross-play support, but it was added with a few patches after release.
The first patch, released on June 10, 2020, introduced cross-play between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (via Steam and Xbox Store). You can check the original article on the official website here.
The second patch we got on November 07, 2024, added cross-play to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation VR 1 & 2, PCVR, and the GoG store. The original article is here.
Even though this is off-topic, we would like to mention that the game also got cross-save between all those platforms in the latest cross-play update.
