All Updates of Gray Zone Warfare
Gray Zone Warfare launched its major 0.4 update, code-named "Spearhead." As it happens with every extraction shooter, it included the notorious server wipe, leaving everyone with basic gear once again and having to fight for their lives in the tropical jungle of Lamang.

I've taken the time to explore this new update by digging into the patch notes and watching videos that show the community's reactions to it. There is a possibility that you may have left this game a few months ago out of frustration with aimbot NPCs. Well, I have both good and bad news for you.

This review will show you whether it's worth coming back to Gray Zone Warfare now.

Good Point: An Engaging Tactic Simulator

We'll start with the best improvement brought to this game. If you are an older gamer, or if you are too busy working and don't want to fight with cheaters and sweaty players in other extraction shooters, you will love this game's PvE mode.

MADFINGER Games introduced tons of new features to this game. Below you'll find some of them.

  • An Enemy with Realistic Aims: Before, NPCs possessed aimbots, making the PvP game rather annoying. They did away with this mechanic and implemented realistic reactions to light and sound effects. You can sneak around enemies easily without being shot through the wall, making the gameplay far more satisfying.
  • Progression System: They added over 100 tasks and made changes to the vendor system. Rather than delivering goods here and there, you now uncover the world lore and uncover hidden passwords. All in all, it provides an engaging experience.
  • No Timer: You don't need to run from point A to B as soon as you can. There is no timer in place, so you can move at your own pace, spending as long as you want on each stage.
  • A Wide Array of Gunplay and Gear: You can choose among eight different firearms and more than 380 weapon attachments. Oh, and the magnifiers you could previously only wish for? You got them!

Bad Points: Optimization Problems and Jungle Terminators

All things considered, it is a fantastic PvE game. However, there is still plenty of work that needs doing to make this title a true masterpiece. Let's explore the bad things.

One of the worst improvements in Gray Zone Warfare is definitely its optimization. Unreal Engine 5 is putting strain on every system, forcing the most advanced cards to have terrible frames and severe latency problems when using frame generation. Players with budget cards may experience serious problems with maintaining stable framerates.

Moreover, the game does not handle the jungles very well.

Imagine this situation. You spent 20 minutes meticulously clearing a village. Now, after feeling yourself like a true tactical genius, you venture into the nearby woods where the Sawmill area starts. However, everything is blurry, and suddenly, bang! You die due to the bot shooting you through a tree trunk at 100 meters. It's incredibly frustrating to go to an enemy's camp through dense jungle foliage.

Also, there seem to be some issues with the game servers, with some users experiencing false positive bans for cheating in multiplayer due to the game's anti-cheat. This, in turn, requires immediate addressing from the development team.

Conclusion

In summary, Gray Zone Warfare 0.4 is a giant leap in the right direction. It emphasizes its tactical approach with PvE mode by allowing players to act however they want. With a detailed medical system, high-quality gun mechanics, and gun fights, it's quite entertaining.

However, terrible optimization and random shots fired from jungle foliage bots prevent it from being perfect. In general, if you have a powerful computer, a lot of patience, and a fellow gamer, you'll absolutely love it. But in case you have problems with modern games, perhaps you should wait until this one gets optimized better.
